Director Emeritus

Music Director and Principal Conductor John W. de Salme retired on April 28, 2001 after 10 years at the helm of the Eastern Iowa Brass Band. Mr. de Salme continues his association with brass bands in his capacity as vice president of the North American Brass Band Association. He also stays in close contact with the EIBB, making appearances as guest conductor and as a composer and arranger of chorales and hymn tunes for brass band warm-up literature. In his tenure with EIBB, Mr. de Salme made an indelible mark on his players and his audiences, taking the Eastern Iowa Brass Band to new heights as a highly respected performance group in the American brass band community. The band is eternally grateful to John for his broad range of contributions to the band and to the spirit of brass bands in America.
