Dawn says, "the camaraderie is the most important and memorable piece of the EIBB experience. Besides that, here are a few:
1. Driving in my mini-van with my husband and two daughters to our very first NABBA competition, this one being held in North Carolina. Everyone in the van (except me, of course) was sleeping while we were driving through the Appalachian Mountains. It was a breathtaking drive and I had no one to share it with!
2. BNFL
3. Brass Band of New Zealand
4. Wycliffe Gordon
5. NABBA Gala concerts
Dawn loves lyrical solos played by Todd Bransky, Dennis Modracek and Dan Davies. She loves well-played tuba pedal tones, suspended cymbal rolls and to hear a well-rehearsed brass quintet performance."

Dawn goes on to talk about the music played by the EIBB: "I love pieces that have rhythmically challenging bass lines, but I hate rhythmically challenged bass players! A nice, tight bass section is just about the coolest thing ever!! An (in tune) open fifth played by two basses - oh yummy! And playing duets with my husband, Greg, is simply dreamy."
She also talk about some of the places she has played over the years, with the EIBB and others, " Any tuba player that DOESN'T like playing in a bathroom is a liar and cannot be trusted. As far as official venues, though, it was fun to play in Manchester - their band shell really carried the sound of the tubas! And I enjoy playing in Clapp Recital Hall with Chester Schmitz. "
