Lee managed to narrow his EIBB memory list down to three:
1989: Trip to NABBA competition in Asheville, NC. Driving through the mountains of Western NC in Spring and a group lunch at the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville. Also, that year we played in Honors Class the first time and won our class.
1998: NABBA competition in Lexington, KY. We belatedly moved up to Championship Class during the run-up to NABBA. Owing to this, we did not expect much, so were very relaxed when we went on stage. We played the lights out and took second, beating the Evil Empire (Brass Band of Columbus)by 3 points. Our friends from Illinois Brass Band took first. We partied like demons afterwards. The bus trip home was pretty rowdy as well.
2005: Our tour of MO and Southwest IA, including playing for the Jolly Rogers RV club at the Missouri State Fair Grounds and for folks in Clarinda, IA and Story City, IA. We played six performances in 3 days, including 3 outdoor gigs in 95-plus degree heat. The Super 8 Motel in Clarinda will never be the same. I am still trying to figure out why every Interstate exit in MO had a fireworks stand, a porn shop and a Baptist Church. There must be a connection somewhere. , Playing as the warmup act for the Kuhlmann Sisters at the Orpheum Theatre in Dubuque, IA. Damn, they were annoying., KINGDOM TRIUMPHANT by Eric Ball.
