Joined the EIBB in the fall of 2008. Started playing mallet instruments in high school in 2004.
Also plays various non-brass instruments of the steel and woodwind variety. She's played flute and oboe since middle school and learned steel drum in college.

Grew up in Albia, a small town in southern Iowa.
Myka graduated with BAs in Math and Computer Science at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA. She currently works as a programmer for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency in Cedar Rapids.

One of my most memorable EIBB moments in probably from the December 2008 Subscription Series concert when we brought out Casey's parents. The look on his face and the words from his mouth were priceless.
Another fun event was my first GCOBB at the Amana RV park in 2009. Steve and Dave D were announcing the Top 10 list and in trying to butter up Joe, the "prettiest bass drummer" was mentioned. And apparently I bounce as I play, according to a member of one of the other bands.
"Intrada Ein'feste Burg" is one of my favorites from the Sweet Cornets CD.
I loved playing "Exprit de Corps" and "Hymn of the HIghtlands." Anything with lots of percussion where we're all multi-tasking is lots of fun to play.
I don't have a favorite place to play yet, but bus trips are always fun, especially if there's an RV involved.

A real picture is coming soon.

Myka's parents, brother and sister live in Albia. All musicians, except Dad. He can only play the radio.
I'm a bit of sci-fi nerd (and really enjoy EIBB Star Trek debates).
