Paul McNally Trombone

|
|
| Paul joined the EIBB in 1988. | He started playing trombone in 1954. He also has played the euphonium for about 45 years and the cornet for about 35 years. He wants to keep playing and performing as long as He is physically able. |
|
| Paul grew up in Grinnel, IA. |
| He earned his Bachelor of Music and Mastor of Arts degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. |
| Paul retired as a high school band director a few years ago and is currently teaching instrumental music part-time at the elementary level. |
|
Paul's memories of the times with the EIBB include: "NABBA performance in Little Rock, U.S Open in 2007, concert in Sedalia for RV convention and our concert at the Elkader Opera House. ,
Numero Uno by a long shot would be our concert at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. Noon concert, 96 degrees, 98% humidity, little if any shade and 7 people in the audience. To top off the day, the train breaks down midway through our "scenic" trip., No one favorite piece but very much enjoy the the music of Sparke, Himes and Bulla.

Another picture of Paul coming soon.

Outside of his time with the EIBB, Paul says; "My wife Valerie is a clarinetist who is an elementary band director in the Iowa City school district. My son Chris is a retired Marine Corps band member who plays all the woodwinds. He lives in North Carolina and works as an band instrument repair technician. My twin daughters both live in Omaha. Anne has her MSW and is a supervisor for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Kathy just recently earned an MA from U. of Nebraska-Omaha and works as a guidance counselor at Bryan H.S. in Omaha.
Besides EIBB, I also play in the New Venue Big Band, the Iowa City Community Band and occasionally in various brass quartets/quintets for weddings, holiday church services, etc.
I enjoy reading - fiction but, even more, historical non-fiction. I am a huge movie fan and a avid HDTV devotee. That and the Cubs - this could be the year! Valerie and I also love to travel - especially to the desert Southwest and the Oregon coast. We have also been fortunate enough to accompany several student performing groups on European tours where we especially were enthralled by the Austrian/Swiss
Alps, Venice, Paris, London and most of all Ireland."
